Two individuals were hospitalized following a clash between supporters of former Minister Rishad Bathiudeen and former State Minister Kader Mastan in the Pattanichur area of Vavuniya last night (11), according to Vavuniya Police.

The incident occurred after election campaign activities concluded last night (11), when both Kader Mastan and Rishad Bathiudeen held rallies in the Pattanichur area. Tensions escalated when a procession of vehicles from Rishad Bathiudeen’s campaign passed near the venue where Kader Mastan’s public meeting was underway.

An argument between supporters quickly turned into a physical altercation, during which Bathiudeen’s motorcade and vehicles of his supporters were reportedly attacked and severely damaged.

As a result, two supporters sustained serious injuries and were admitted to Vavuniya Hospital. Vavuniya Police, who arrived at the scene, managed to defuse the situation and restore order.
