The security detail for former President Mahinda Rajapaksa has reportedly been scaled down to 60 personnel, a significant reduction from the previous deployment of around 175.
Along with the reduction in personnel, the number of vehicles assigned to his security has also been cut back. Going forward, the security team will have access to two jeeps, two motorcycles, and one three-wheeler.
All personnel, except for the remaining 60 assigned to his protection, are required to report back to the Deputy Inspector General (DIG) in charge of the Special Security Directorate by November 3. Likewise, all vehicles removed from his security detail must also be returned by that date.
