A public meeting led by President Ranil Wickramasinghe is currently being recorded at the Colombo Galle Face Hotel and will be broadcast later this evening. However, there has been a notable exclusion from the event: while all other media channels have been invited, the Hiru channel was not informed of the event’s timing.
Initially, Hiru channel had been notified about the program and confirmed that journalist Chamuditha Samarawickrama would attend. However, subsequent updates regarding the time of the discussion were not communicated to Hiru.
Sources suggest that if Mr. Samarawickrama were to attend, he might pose questions that could put the President in an uncomfortable position. This could be the reason behind the lack of notification about the event’s timing to Hiru.
It has been reported that all other major networks, including National Television, Independent Television, Derana, Swarnavahini, Siyatha, and Sirasa, are present at the recording. The program is expected to air on all these channels later tonight.
