A person allegedly responsible for making a threatening statement, which circulated widely on social media, has been summoned to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning.
The individual is said to be a supporter of the National People’s Force and was reportedly part of a group when the statement was made.
Police Media Spokesperson, DIG Advocate Nihal Talduwa, provided further details:
The suspect is a 47-year-old resident of Kiribathgoda and a former army major. The relevant audio recording has been sent to government analysts for further investigation.
