Ritzbury empowers Vidudaya- Ritzbury Swimming Championship 2023

Ritzbury, Sri Lanka’s favourite chocolate brand of Ceylon Biscuits Limited (CBL), recently announced at a press conference held on 16th May 2023, that it will serve as the sole sponsor for the upcoming Vidudaya- Ritzbury Swimming Championship 2023. Organized and conducted by the Department of Physical Education, University of Sri Jayewardenepura, the swimming championship will be held on the 26th and 27th of May for 3rd year at the Sri Jayewardenepura University Swimming Pool complex.

At the recent press conference held at the Senate Board Room of University of Jayewardenepura, the beloved chocolate brand expressed its eagerness to sponsor this landmark inter school swimming event for the third year, reaffirming the brand’s commitment to the sport.

This Championship is expected to attract over 1000 swimmers from over 300 schools and swimming sports clubs. These athletes will come together through five age categories – Under 10, 12, 14, 16 and 18. In addition to an Individual Male and Female Champion being awarded in all age groups, schools and clubs will have the opportunity to take home the Overall Championship Award in both Male and Female categories respectively. The Top Three Male and Female Individual Winners will be awarded with medals and certificates to recognize their hard work and all participants of the Vidudaya-Ritzbury Championship will receive participation certificates as well.

Speaking on the same, Nilupul de Silva, General Manager, Marketing of CBL Foods International Pvt Ltd. said, “Nurturing the values of sportsmanship among the youth of Sri Lanka has been a significant focus for Ritzbury, and we have continued to build this through various initiatives through the years. As the market leader of chocolates in Sri Lanka, we are honoured and privileged to partner with the University of Sri Jayewardenepura for the third year, and we are sure that it will be a resounding success,”

Meanwhile, Nishanthi Widanage, Director of the Department of Physical Education of University of Sri Jayewardenepura added, “Sponsorships such as these from socially responsible entities within the corporate sector play a great role in making such sporting events happen. We are no stranger to the support extended by Ritzbury to make this event a success over the years, and their presence this year is more than appreciated. We are proud to work with a local partner such as Ritzbury, who has clearly demonstrated its support to the sporting arena of Sri Lanka,”

In addition to Swimming, Ritzbury is known as an active supporter of a wide range of sporting events in Sri Lanka including the Ritzbury Sir John Tarbet Athletics Championship, , Ritzbury Junior National Squash Championship, Ritzbury Junior Rugby Carnival and the SLTA All Island School Kids Tennis Play Day. All these efforts are made by the much-loved confectionary brand, showcasing its commitment towards developing the skills of the nation’s youth through sports.
