The under-17 handball team of Devi Balika Vidyalaya has brought pride and glory to the school by securing the championship title at the prestigious All-Island Handball Tournament, held at the Public Grounds, Galewela, from 29th to 31st August. Facing Visakha Vidyalaya, Colombo, in a nail-biting final, the team displayed exceptional skill, determination, and teamwork to claim a well-deserved victory.
Warm congratulations go to the spirited team, ably led by captain Midini Rasanjana. Recognition is also due to the tireless guidance of the Sports Unit teachers-in- charge, Ms. Upeksha Dulanjalee and Ms. Amanda Thathsarani; the dedicated handball coordinators, Ms. Kanchana Devi and Mr. Nalaka Dassanayake; and the inspiring coach, Mr. Umesh Kavinda.
The school community extends heartfelt gratitude to our principal, Madam Nilakshika Hapugoda, and the management board, whose steadfast encouragement and support have been instrumental in nurturing the talents of our young athletes and propelling them to this remarkable achievement.
