Samagi Jana Balawegaya (SJB) General Secretary, Ranjith Maddumabandara, has announced that discussions between the SJB and the United National Party (UNP) have been temporarily suspended.
Maddumabandara emphasized that for a potential alliance to move forward, UNP leader Ranil Wickremesinghe would need to step down from his leadership role, but no positive response has been received from the UNP.
He further stated that due to allegations of corruption involving several individuals within the UNP, forming an alliance with the party is not feasible at this time.
