Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) member Namal Rajapaksa has voiced concerns about ongoing claims regarding the 2019 Easter Sunday attack investigations.
In a post on ‘X’, the former MP expressed frustration over the handling of the Commission report on the attacks, describing the situation as spiraling out of control. He also highlighted the government’s failure to locate missing pages of the report and raised questions about two additional unpublished findings.
“The government continues to ignore calls for transparency, offering plenty of talk but no meaningful action. It is crucial for the government to provide clear answers instead of allowing speculation to grow,” Rajapaksa said.
His remarks followed comments by Pivithuru Hela Urumaya (PHU) Leader Udaya Gammanpila, who, during a press conference earlier this week, urged the government to release two unpublished committee reports related to the attacks. Gammanpila warned that if the government failed to do so within a week, he would release the reports online himself.
Gammanpila also claimed that a portion of the Presidential Commission of Inquiry (PCoI) report on the Easter Sunday attacks had not been submitted to Parliament. He further revealed that the Catholic Church had raised concerns over two unpublished reports prepared by committees led by I.M. Imam and A.N.J. de Alwis.
In response, Cabinet Spokesman Minister Vijitha Herath challenged Gammanpila, urging him to provide the government with the two reports he mentioned.
