Despite their mandate to operate independently, several governors have recently been observed actively participating in political campaigns in support of the President.
Notably, North Western Governor Naseer Ahmed, Southern Governor Lakshman Yapa, Central Province Governor Lalith Gamage, Sabaragamuwa Governor Navin Dissanayake, Eastern Governor Sendhil Thondaman, and North Central Governor Mahipala Herath have been openly involved in rallying public support and organizing election-related activities on behalf of the President.
