Acting president made a live statement in the electronic media this afternoon

The lack of a thorough Easter Sunday probe, according to acting president Ranil Wickremesinghe, has left this problem unresolved.
Additionally, Acting President Wickremesinghe stated that he is asking the UK Government and their intelligence services for assistance owing to the partial nature of the Easter Sunday incident.

Acting President Wickremesinghe noted in a special address that the economy had collapsed and there were daily power outages lasting five hours when he assumed office as Prime Minister on May 13. The Acting President stated that in the two months that had passed since then, the number of power outages had decreased to three hours per day, farmers now had access to fertilizer, and the nation’s gas problem had been resolved.

He added that he had only just informed them that the month of July will be challenging for the fuel supply. Diesel supplies, on the other hand, have been obtained and are now being distributed; starting on July 21, gasoline will also be.

He also clarified that aid was being given to the nation’s residents who were suffering from the economic turmoil. The loans received by paddy farmers who planted fields smaller than 2 acres have been annulled, according to the acting president. While the country’s fuel costs have also decreased as a result of the decline in global oil prices.

The Acting President outlined the actions taken so far and added that talks with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) were almost finished, and talks with other nations about help were also moving forward.

He continued by stating that the Executive Presidency is to blame for the nation’s current political problem and that the 19th Amendment would be reintroduced to solve many of the public’s concerns.

The Acting President continued by stating that certain individuals inside society were aiming to sabotage the nation’s peace. He clarified that it would be forbidden for these factors to obstruct the nation’s development. Wickremesinghe added that the government would interact with the nonviolent demonstrators who had valid concerns and come up with answers for them.

Acting President Wickremesinghe urged the nation’s political parties to set aside their differences and prevent the nation from suffering because of disagreements over a single person. He asked them to unite and create an All-Party Government so that the nation could emerge from the economic catastrophe.
