The Embassy of the Republic of Türkiye in Colombo, in collaboration with the Daily Mirror, has announced two special competitions to mark the holy month of Ramadan, inviting young minds to reflect on the spirit of the season through words and art.

An English Essay Competition and an Art Competition will be conducted under the common theme “My Memorable Ramadan Experience”, offering children an opportunity to express their creativity and personal reflections on Ramadan.

The competitions are open to children aged between 7 and 15 years. Art competition entries must be submitted on A3-size paper, while essays should be written on A4-size paper and must not exceed 400 words.

All entries must be certified by a teacher as original and authentic work. Participants are also required to clearly mention their name, address, email address, telephone number and school details on the reverse side of each entry.

Entries should be sent by post to:

8, Hunupitiya Cross Road
Colombo 02

The closing date for submissions is March 20, 2026.

A panel of experts will select three winners each from the essay and art categories, and the judges’ decision will be final.

The initiative aims to encourage creativity among children while fostering a deeper appreciation of the values and experiences associated with the holy month of Ramadan.
