Accordingly, the Disaster Management Center states that 291720 families belonging to 84646 families in 19 districts covering all the provinces of the island are affected without drinking water.
Due to severe drought, the northern and eastern provinces have been affected the most and 75,607 people belonging to 23,688 families in the northern province and 63,265 people belonging to 18,991 families in the eastern province have been affected, the center said.
A spokesperson of the Disaster Management Center said that efforts are being made to provide drinking water to these areas by using other methods including Bowser vehicles.
