President Gotabaya Rajapakse did not resign yesterday as promised .The appointment of a new president has been delayed further as a result of this.
The parliamentary committee had previously decided that upon receipt of the resignation letter, one (1) nomination would be called to fill the vacancy.
However, the president has yet to deliver his letter. As a result, no new president could be elected.
The nomination process will also be postponed.
