With whoes permission did JVP May Day rally held blocking the main road – Sagara kariyawasam
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The General Secretary of the Podujana Peramuna, Advocate Sagara Kariyawasam said that while the police headquarters emphasized that no political party would be allowed to hold May rallies by crossing a highway, a question arises as to how one major political party could hold its May rally by crossing a road despite the police order. says

He stated that despite threats to our loyalists not to attend the Pohottuwa May Day rally, he is pleased with the turnout. Females normally attend our rallies, but due to the threats, we did not encourage their participation. Despite these obstacles, a satisfactory female crowd participated. We have a concern to express. Prior to May Day, police made it clear that a rally should not cross and block the main road. As a result, we reserved a large space and filled it. We could have blocked the road and filled it with people to demonstrate the crowd, but we didn’t. However, we are perplexed as to how some political parties held a May Day rally that blocked a major road. who gave the ok for this? How did this special authority was given?

He further noted , the police have failed up to now to question the people who threatened to attack the parliament with violence; our concern is whether that and the violation of the law to hold a May Day rally are related.
