Windy’s ‘Ayo Sami’ Wins Global Recognition: Sri Lanka Celebrates International Award Victory! VIDEO | Sri Lanka Latest News

Windy Gunathilaka, renowned for her rendition of the Sri Lankan Dravidian song “Ayo Sami,” clinched the award for Best Emotional Song of 2023 at the prestigious 16th Edison Awards held in Chennai, South India.

Arriving back in Sri Lanka from Katunayake International Airport yesterday (26), Windy Gunathilaka was welcomed with great enthusiasm.

The Edison Awards, aimed at honouring international film songs, saw the recognition of Windy’s emotional performance. Pothuvil Azmin, the lyricist, and Sanuka Wickramasinghe, the music director, were also present at the ceremony.

Expressing her delight, Windy Gunathilaka remarked, “It’s a moment of pride to bring home an international award for the first time. I am thrilled to represent Sri Lanka on this esteemed platform.”

The warm reception at Katunayake International Airport symbolized the nation’s appreciation for her remarkable achievement.
