It is reported that Darshana Hettiarachi, Secretary of the British Committee of the party, and Dr. Janita Gamanayake, representing the Janata Vimukti Peramuna, will participate in the 16th Congress of the Venezuelan Communist Party, which will be held in Caracas, Venezuela from November 1st to 6th.

The Janata Vimukthi Peramuna says that both of them are going to participate in a conference on ‘The Role of the Working Class and the Working Class Party in the Current Class Struggle’ which will be held parallel to this conference.

The Venezuelan Communist Party, founded in 1937, is recognized as one of the leading parties in the Latin American region and the world communist movement.

A number of representatives of the communist parties of countries outside the Latin American region are also scheduled to participate in this conference.

It is reported that the two JVP representatives are expected to hold talks with the Venezuelan ruling party, the United Socialist Party, during the conference.
