Wijayadasa exposes police drug activities!

” Every now and then one sample can be wrong. Some police send 20-30 samples by mistake. Things that are not drugs have been sent as toxic drugs. This law is misused. There should be some reform of the law. Even if a suspect is presented with powdered Panadol as drugs, he is remanded as a suspect for possession of drugs. When the taster’s reports come after many months, they do not contain toxic drugs. People say that they are making false accusations to take revenge. There is some truth in that.” said the Minister of Justice, Prison Affairs and Constitutional Reform Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa.

He pointed out that there is a situation where some policemen send twenty or thirty wrong drug samples in a row and that there is some truth in the people’s accusation that some police officers file false cases to take revenge by presenting non-narcotic substances.

He said that this matter will be closely monitored in the coming week.

Taking this situation into account, the minister said that the attention has been paid to amend the law related to the prosecution of narcotics and the people have been accused of the procedure followed by the police in prosecuting narcotics. Dr. Wijayadasa Rajapaksa also mentioned:
