Mr. Iran Wickramaratne, the former Minister of State for Finance, said that if taxes were imposed on cigarette companies in the right way, the government would receive 35 or 40 billion per year.

He pointed out that the government has not imposed taxes on cigarettes in a correct manner throughout the last few years.
