Although some say that the president is postponing the small vote in the hope of announcing a presidential election on November 18, according to the constitution, a successor president who has not been elected by the people’s votes cannot announce a presidential election in four years, says Mr. Udaya Gammanpila, the leader of Pivithuru Hela Urumya, Member of Parliament.

The MP also mentioned that the President has been given a royal rope that a presidential election can be held on November 18.

Mr. Gammanpila said this while addressing a press conference held today (22) at the Pivithuru Hela Uruma Party headquarters.

Government employees running for the local government elections should take leave without pay from the date of nomination to the date of release of election results, but it is unfair for government employees who ask for votes to be held without pay for months in the hope that the election will be held within 7 weeks from the date of nomination. He said that the government should immediately pay the salaries of the election candidate government employees through a ministerial decision, and if they do not do so, they will file a lawsuit against the government.
