According to the Election Commission, the Government Printing Department has informed in writing that even though the official ballot papers related to the upcoming local government elections are printed, they cannot release them until the related payments methods are informed.
In this regard, the Director General of the Election Commission, Mr. Saman Sri Ratnayake, said that the papers were supposed to be received today, but this was stated in a letter sent by the Press Officer in the evening.
He said that he will discuss the matter with the members of the commission tomorrow.
