What’s your involvement on September 21’s Zero Air Day?

Today, September 21, is recognised as Zero Emissions Day, a global campaign that aims to put an end to the combustion of fossil fuels for 24 hours on that day.

In Sri Lanka, poisonous gas emissions from moving cars are regarded as the main cause of environmental pollution.

Numerous international environmental treaties bind Sri Lanka. Preventing environmental contamination is a major responsibility for our nation.

This circumstance has had a significant impact on Sri Lanka’s ability to attract foreign loans as well as tourism.

In Sri Lanka, the Emissions Trust Fund, a division of the Department of Motor Traffic (DMT), is in charge of a significant project to reduce the toxic emissions from moving automobiles.

Nearly 450 centres have been established throughout the island, and each year nearly six million vehicles are put through emission testing. 20% of the vehicles brought in for inspection fail the initial round.

Additionally, this is an opportunity to locate the automobiles that are polluting the environment with harmful emissions and fix any flaws in those vehicles. This regulates how much solution is released into the environment at once.

This emission test’s government fee is not a tax. This is the test fee.

Funds for environmental conservation are also used using some of the money obtained. We shouldn’t put another person’s right to breathe at risk just as we would not compromise our own mobility needs.

To protect your health, the DMT regulations’ Emissions Trust Fund was established to foster a smoke-free environment.
