Last night, Cardinal Thero said this while participating in the Signese Cinema Awards held at the Bandaranaike International Conference Hall.
“It is the duty of patriotic and pro-people media to defeat such attempts to lead the country to totalitarianism. The time has come to reject the traditional political parties that have ruled our country so far. The time is near to creating a new revival in the country by eliminating politics, familyism and sectarianism. We must end the era of voting for asbestos sheets, 5,000 rupees or half a bottle of liquor. Next, we all must act to take our country to a new liberation by going to a new leadership that loves the country instead of the traditional populist politicians.” The Cardinal further said here.
