We stand in solidarity with the families and victims of enforced disappearance: Ambassador Julie Chung

In a tweet, US ambassador in Sri Lanka Julia Chung said, on the day of the victims of enforced disappearances “We stand in solidarity with the families and victims and applaud the efforts of civil society individuals and groups working on it.”


In her tweets, she also noted today, on the International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances 2022, that Sri Lankans deserve transparency and answers about the fate of their loved ones from their government.


The commemoration reminds how many families and communities suffering because they don’t know what happened to their loved ones.

The International Day of the Victims of Enforced Disappearances, observed worldwide. The day emphasizes the importance of preventing enforced disappearances and combating impunity for this heinous crime.
