“We call upon the President and the Government to withdraw the Anti-Terrorism Bill and the purported Online Safety Bill and to repeal the Prevention of Terrorism Act- TISL  I Sri Lanka Latest News

Sankhitha Gunaratne Deputy Executive Director, TISL, Voiced the following views at a collective press conference held by civil society organizations at Sri Lanka Press Institute, Colombo.

She further emphasized that

“Today we have come together against the anti-terrorist law and the anti-terrorism bill that the government has proposed and due to come up in parliament tomorrow and thereafter. In both these laws what we can see is that there is a clear intention to repress the voice of the people to repress the freedom of expression, the freedom of assembly, the freedom of association of the people of this country especially times like this at a critical juncture when there is much turmoil in the country there is an economic crisis coupled with governance crisis indeed caused by governance crisis ….”.
