The National Water Supply and Drainage Board says that water charges will be increased from September 1.
Accordingly, a senior official of the board stated that the water charges of the houses will be increased by 70 percent.
However, the official stated that the charges will not be increased in government schools as well as in the homes of low income earners.
The amount of increase in charges for business locations and companies has not been decided yet.
The cabinet of Ministers also approved the increase in charges. The National Water Supply and Drainage Board said that its board received the related documents last Friday.
