The United Kingdom’s Health Protection Agency says that this new strain is spreading very fast, foreign media reports.
Doctors in the country have named this new variant as EG.5.1 or Eris, and this is said to be a sub-variant of the ‘Covid 19 Omicron virus.
It is stated in an announcement issued by the World Health Organization that it has focused its attention on the spread of this virus in the United Kingdom.
