Actor-turned-politician Joseph Vijay was sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, marking a historic political milestone as his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), formed its first-ever government in the state.

Vijay took the oath of office along with a compact nine-member cabinet, signaling the formal beginning of TVK’s rule after its dramatic rise in Tamil Nadu politics. The swearing-in ceremony drew widespread attention, with supporters celebrating what they described as the arrival of a new political era in the state.

The newly appointed cabinet reflects Vijay’s strategy of balancing political experience with youthful energy, while also accommodating technocrats and carefully managing caste and regional equations. The composition indicates an effort to create both administrative stability and broad social representation in the early stages of his government.

Several key positions have reportedly gone to trusted members of Vijay’s inner circle who stood firmly with him during TVK’s rapid political ascent. Their inclusion is seen as both a reward for loyalty and a signal of continuity in the party’s leadership structure.

Political observers note that the compact size of the cabinet suggests Vijay’s preference for a streamlined administration focused on quick decision-making and tighter control during the crucial first phase of governance.

With TVK now in power, expectations are high as Vijay transitions from cinema icon to full-time administrator, facing the challenge of converting popular support into effective governance. His first decisions as Chief Minister will be closely watched, both within Tamil Nadu and across the broader South Indian political landscape.
