When the university students came near the Peradeniya Inn on a protest march, a group of hundreds of policemen blocked the road and fired tear gas at the students, causing a tense atmosphere between the students and the police.

According to the hospital sources, about 08 students have been admitted to the hospital due to tear gas bullets and allergies caused by tear gas.
