The accident took place near the square near the CCC grounds near Independence Square from Nelumpokuna Theater Road in Colombo.
The car knocked the police officer who was on duty at the place hit a water pond and stopped.
The police have arrested an engineer son of a doctor couple who is said to have driven this car.
