The period from today to next 27th has been declared as Vesak week and this year the state Vesak festival is planned to be held at Dharmaraja Piriven Temple in Matale.

The opening ceremony of the Vesak week is scheduled to begin today under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Dinesh Gunawardena.
