41 of these wild elephants have died due to electrocution, hooking and shooting by farmers, and another 27 have died due to train accidents and other accidents.
To reduce the killing of wild elephants in Vavuniya district from the year 2024, the officials have taken steps to strictly implement the law and educate the farmers, and for this, a program has been prepared to get the support of the village officials and civil defence officers of the province.
