Opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said in Parliament today (10) that the current government led by the current president has increased the VAT to 18 percent without a formal and scientific survey in the field about the financial impact of the increase. Sri Lanka Latest News

It is surprising that the government is conducting a survey at this time on the impact of the increase in VAT on the rural, urban and estate community and in enlightened optimal financial management, a financial impact assessment should be done before imposing or removing taxes, but the government has done such a thing here. The opposition leader said that there is not.

The opposition leader said that it is a serious problem to conduct such a survey after increasing the VAT and said that the prices of sugar, dal, chillies, keri samba, samba etc. have increased due to this, to go to the market and find out.
