The United States has called on Iran to refrain from retaliating in response to recent Israeli strikes.
“If Iran chooses to respond again, we will be prepared, and there will be consequences for Iran,” senior administration officials stated, while emphasizing that such a turn of events was not desired by the U.S.
The statement further urged an end to the direct exchange of fire between Israel and Iran, with Washington signaling readiness to lead efforts toward halting the broader conflict. “This should be the end of this direct exchange of fire between Israel and Iran,” the statement added, expressing the U.S. commitment to securing a ceasefire in Gaza and facilitating the return of hostages taken from Israel.
