Admiral Steve Koehler, Commander of the US Pacific Fleet, is set to visit Sri Lanka tomorrow (October 10), marking the highest-level US military visit to the country since 2021.

According to the US Embassy in Sri Lanka, Admiral Koehler’s visit aims to reaffirm the robust partnership between the US and Sri Lanka in promoting a resilient, free, and open Indo-Pacific region.

During his visit, Admiral Koehler is expected to engage with senior Sri Lankan officials on key security challenges in the Indian Ocean. Discussions will focus on enhancing cooperation in maritime domain awareness, disaster response, and addressing international threats. The US Embassy emphasized that this visit highlights the growing cooperation between the two nations and underscores the US commitment to supporting Sri Lanka’s security efforts.

The visit further demonstrates the United States’ dedication to strengthening security ties with Sri Lanka, a key partner in fostering peace and stability in the Indo-Pacific region.
