A landmark agreement aimed at ending hostilities between the United States and Iran has reportedly been finalised, with leaders from both countries signalling that a formal signing ceremony will take place in Switzerland on Friday.
Pakistan’s Prime Minister, Shehbaz Sharif, announced that a “peace deal” between Washington and Tehran has been reached and is now in effect, describing the accord as a breakthrough for regional stability.
US President Donald Trump also declared that the agreement with Iran is “now complete” and said the United States would end its naval blockade in the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most strategically important shipping routes.
On the Iranian side, Deputy Foreign Minister Kazem Gharibabadi stated that the text of the agreement had been fully finalised. He added that the deal would bring an end to the conflict on all fronts, including in Lebanon.
Meanwhile, Iran’s military issued a strongly worded statement claiming that the Iranian people had demonstrated that the United States and Israel had “no choice but to accept defeat and surrender”.
The reported agreement, if formally signed as scheduled, would mark a significant de-escalation in tensions that have threatened regional security and global energy markets. Further details of the accord have yet to be released.
