That is for the two years 2019 and 2020. In this award ceremony, Kamal Addararachchi, who played the role in the film ‘Ginnen upan seethala’, was awarded as the best actor of the year 2019 and Kumara Thirimadura of the movie ‘The Newspaper’ was awarded as the best actor of the year 2020.
In this award ceremony, Samadhi Laksiri, who acted in the movie, ‘Dakala Purudu Kenek’ was awarded as the best actress, and veteran actress Neeta Fernando, who acted in the movie “Pamshu” was awarded as the best actress of 2020.
Veteran musician Dr. Nanda Maliniya was honoured as the best background singer in 2020 at this award ceremony. It was noteworthy that President Ranil Wickramasinghe and others walked up to Mrs. Nanda Malini to present her award.
Speaking there, President Ranil Wickramasinghe said that he enjoyed the song Doi Doi Doi Doiyya Baba sung by Nanda Maliniya in 1963 and that it won ‘Sarasaviya award and he was also present at that event.
The President also said he would like to thank Nanda Maliniya on behalf of the entire people for her contribution to music for the country.
