U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka Advises Americans on Travel Amid Middle East Developments
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

The U.S. Department of State has emphasized that the safety and security of Americans worldwide remain its highest priority. In light of ongoing developments in the Middle East, the U.S. Embassy in Sri Lanka has issued guidance for American citizens currently in the country.

While limited travel routes through the Middle East have resumed, the Embassy notes that many commercial options exist for Americans wishing to return to the United States without transiting the region.

Americans whose travel plans have been affected are encouraged to speak with a Consular Officer during walk-in hours, which are available Monday through Thursday from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. For urgent assistance, or for those unable to visit during walk-in hours, the Embassy’s American Citizen Services Unit can be reached at +94-11-202-8500, or via email through the U.S. Citizens Services Navigator at https://tinyurl.com/ACS-Visa-Navigator
.

The Embassy also advises all U.S. citizens to enroll in the Smart Traveler Enrollment Program (STEP) at http://step.state.gov. Enrollment ensures travelers receive timely security updates and alerts from the nearest U.S. embassy or consulate.

“Your safety and well-being are our top priorities,” the Embassy stated, urging Americans in Sri Lanka to remain informed and take necessary precautions during their travel.
