The opposition leader said that it was he who declared that it was a ‘disguise’ and a ‘blindfold’ and the ministers of the government expressed their opinions in favour of it even though they knew it was a ‘blindfold’ and they acted as slaves or slaves according to the orders of their political higher-ups. Sri Lanka Latest News

Opposition Leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said this in a discussion held with Podujana Samurdhi Professional Association and All Ceylon Samurdhi Development officials at the Opposition Leader’s office.

It is concluded that Samurdhi campaign is an important program implemented in the social level of Sri Lanka with 17 lakh families directly and 40 lakh families as customers and it has very good qualities as well as minor shortcomings and it was implemented through non-data centric methods without proper study of the Samurdhi campaign without any scientific research. The said opposition leader said that when financial aid was received from a foreign agency to give to people suffering from poverty, it was somehow implemented through a false survey to give it to 20 lakh families.

The opposition leader said that if he were the president of the country, the first thing he would do after the Covid situation is to conduct a socio-economic income expenditure survey of a household in the country and identify the poverty line and through that identify the real poor for poverty alleviation programs.

Mr. Sajith Premadasa, the leader of the opposition who said that they did not provide sramurdi  in July and that they are trying to conduct a population census by mixing up all the affairs, further said that according to the Verity Research Institute, the poverty line is based on the amount of electricity consumed by electricity consumers in Sri Lanka. Can be identified and said that it is a more than 80 percent successful scientific method. He also said that through this, the huge administrative expenses incurred for the settlement can be reduced.

The opposition leader said that subsidies should be given to the people who deserve it and those people should be found through the 03 methods of data-centered, scientific and unbiased understanding.

Yesterday, the President convened an all-party conference and discussed how the direct orders of the President should be implemented in the provincial councils through the governors. At this time, the government led by the President should listen to the national priority and the national priority at the moment is to give a clean mandate. The opposition leader added that the country can be moved forward.

Therefore, opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa said that Samurdhi subsidy will not be allowed to be destroyed as desired by various parties and if there are any problems, they should be rectified and these programs should be implemented scientifically based on data and based on humanity.
