Police report that two masked men arrived on a motorcycle at a residence on Sinhala Mawatha, Bellanwila, Malanibulath, in what is believed to be an act of revenge for the shooting of an army soldier in front of the Navinna bus stand in Maharagama on the 6th.
The intended target had reportedly left the premises just minutes before the assailants arrived.
The injured army soldier is currently receiving treatment in hospital. Police suspect the incident to be linked to an ongoing conflict between two criminal gangs.
