Two deaths have been reported in Eppawala as a result of excessive heat! Follow medical advice to avoid further disaster!

Due to extreme heat, two residents of Eppawa suffered from heart attack and died due to heat shock. One of them died after taking part in a tug-of-war competition at a New Year festival and poured ice water on his head due to exhaustion, and the other died after bathing in the hot sun after going to mow the grass in his field, according to the Coroner of Eppawala.

A. who resided in Eppawala Lower Siambarlawa has died. R. D. Atula Dhammika (34) and L. who resided in Katiyava Yaya 02 of Eppawala. G. Mr. Wijesinghe (38).

Mr.R. D. Atula Dhammika took part in the rope pulling competition of a New Year’s festival on the 16th and went to his house due to extreme fatigue and took a bottle of chilled water from the house and poured it on his head. As a result of this, he was immediately admitted to the Eppawala hospital, but he died there.

Katia Yava 02 resident L. G. Mr. Wijesinghe went to his field on the 18th to cut the grass in the fields with a lawnmower and fell into the nearby stream when he got tired and died. Mr. P. S. Jayawickrama says.

Mr. Rohitha, Sergeant (62673) of Eppawala Police conducted investigations into these two deaths and led the evidence in the accidental death investigation.

In connection with both these deaths, Epawala of Government Hospital. Dr. N H. Dissanayake has conducted the post-mortem examinations and it has been stated in the report sent to the coroner that both of them died due to heat shock and sudden cardiac arrest due to the high temperature prevailing these days.

On the basis of police evidence and medical evidence, these two deaths were due to heat shock and heart attack due to the high temperature prevailing these days. Mr. P. S. Jayawickrama Eppawala coroner decided.
