Government enterprises, established to serve the public welfare, national security, and economic stability, are crucial national assets. A letter, bearing the signatures of influential Tri chapter chief monks, has been dispatched to the President, highlighting widespread societal discontent with the government’s current initiative to restructure these state-owned entities.

Signatories including Sri Siddhartha Sumangala of Thibbotuwa, Mahanayake of Malwathu sect, Sri Gnanarathana of Asgiri sect of Warakagoda, Maitri Murthi Amarapura Maha Sangha president of Karagoda Uyangoda, Sri Wimala of Makulawe, Sri Lanka Ramanya Nikaya, express concerns over the lack of transparency in the restructuring process.

They condemn implementing a mechanism allowing public resources to be sold without due consideration of public feedback and proposals. This opacity breeds uncertainty regarding public welfare, national security, and social stability.
