As of now, the current government, which has no treasonous mandate, has decided to withdraw the three armed forces, police, and civil defence forces from the historic shrine within 24 hours and even violate the responsibility of protecting, promoting, and safeguarding the Sambuddha Sasana, which is confirmed by the supreme constitution of the country. The opposition leader, Mr. Sajith Premadasa, said in a special statement today (3) that the government led by the current president has worked to do this.
The leader of the opposition said that the removal of the protection given to this holy place is called an act of thugs and the reason for this is that by removing the protection, the antiquities with historical value will be exposed to thieves.
