The Election Commission is scheduled to meet tomorrow (03) to discuss the future activities of the election, including deciding the date of the local government election.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Election Commission, attorney at law Mr. Nimal Punchihewa stated that a special meeting was held between all the district election officials and the commission last Tuesday to discuss the problems that have arisen in connection with the local government elections.
In this discussion held via Zoom, the District Election Officers have informed the commission about the obstacles to the further activities of the local government election due to the lack of proper funds.
It is said that the Election Officers have brought to the attention of the Commission that many problems have arisen due to the delay in the local government polling process.
