Foreign media report that Tokyo authorities have initiated the evacuation of employees from the Fukushima Daiichi and Fukushima Daini nuclear power plants as a precautionary measure.
While no irregularities or malfunctions have been reported at either facility, the evacuation has reportedly been carried out in response to ongoing tsunami alerts currently being monitored by Japanese authorities.
The Fukushima Daiichi nuclear plant gained global attention in 2011 as the site of one of the world’s most significant nuclear disasters, following a catastrophic 9.0-magnitude earthquake and tsunami that struck Japan.
