Today’s vote on the budget is critical for the government! If five legislators vote with the opposition, the bill will fail to pass!

The voting on the second reading of the budget, which is scheduled to be held this afternoon, has already shown signs that; it will become a very decisive one.

This is due to the fact that by last night, all the opposition parties as well as the independent groups from the government have declared that they will vote against the budget.

Samagi Jana Balawegaya, Janatha Vimukthi Peramuna, Tamil National Alliance, Dallas Alahapperuma Team, Anura Yapa Team, Wimal Weerawansa Team have informed that they will use the vote in protest.

According to the current parliamentary composition, the government has a majority of 116 seats.

At present  the opposition has 108 MPs.

Accordingly, if five members of the ruling party vote against the budget, there is a risk of the budget being defeated, the sources further state
