The Federation of University teacher’s Societies held a demonstration in front of the Ministry of Higher Education in Colombo today (27) with many demands including demanding the removal of income tax.
University professors often protested by displaying placards with protest texts such as ‘Inflation sky high, professionals on the road’ and ‘Allegations against Ruhuna’s autocratic rule should be allowed to an independent investigation committee’.
Meanwhile, the petroleum trade unions started a satyagraha in front of the entrance of Kolonnawa oil terminal today (27) in the morning, protesting that the legalized petroleum corporation is preparing to sell it to the friends of the government.
The trade union representatives said that there is no need to sell the profitable petroleum legalized corporation and they are protesting this process of the government.
