Mrs. Chandima Manamperi, Divisional Secretary of Tissamaharama said that she decided to leave the position of Tissamaharama Divisional Secretary and get a transfer due to pressure from a powerful official of the government and the strongmen of the political authority.

The officials of the Divisional Secretariat say that Mrs. Chandima Manamperi, who took over the post of Tissamaharama Divisional Secretary about one and a half years ago, is an officer who did not betray her duty on the basis of extra-legal interests.

The strongmen of the political authority in the area pressure for not preparing false estimates for the damages to the houses of a politician in the area, which were set on fire by unknown persons during the struggle against the then government led by former President Gotabhaya Rajapaksa, and for not giving government lands to political friends and not giving them the opportunity to acquire them. It is known that he has broken up with the divisional secretary.

The Divisional Secretary said that the Governor called for reports several times from her claiming that the official car given to her was parked in the sun, and for not reporting the full damage to the houses of the politicians who had been set on fire by the activists, and for not issuing permits to the land occupied by the local politicians.

She said that every time she went home, different people were used to exert various pressures on her and because the lives of her children and herself were threatened, she was leaving the post of Divisional Secretary.

Meanwhile, Mrs. Chandima Manamperi, who took over the post of Tissamaharama Divisional Secretary on August 11, 2021, distributed the fuel stocks received in the area during the fuel shortage with her personal intervention, the residents said.

Mrs. Chandima Manamperi, a very talented civil servant, left yesterday (3) after leaving the post of Divisional Secretary and being transferred as the Deputy Director of the Rural Leaders Training Center under the Ministry of Sports.

Meanwhile, Kirindioya Joint Farmers Organization has sent a letter to President Ranil Wickramasinghe to inform about the sudden transfer of the Divisional Secretary.

It is mentioned in the letter sent to the People’s Leader that she is a very talented officer who worked day and night to solve the people’s problems.

The letter has also requested that an investigation be conducted on those who interfered with the duties of this divisional secretary, who performed an honorable service beyond that of an officer, and that she be reinstated in the same position.

Meanwhile, the residents of the area also say that many corruptions and irregularities that occurred before she took over the post of Divisional Secretary were rectified during the one and a half year she served.
