Three students from a school in the Hulandawa area of Monaragala were arrested today (01) after bringing alcohol to school to celebrate World Children’s Day. The students were taken into custody while consuming alcohol within the school premises.
In a separate incident, a teacher from a well-known school in Monaragala was hospitalized after being assaulted by a student this morning (01) around 8.00 a.m. According to reports, the confrontation arose when the teacher discovered a phone charger in the student’s possession, leading to an argument over the matter.
The assaulted teacher has been admitted to the Monaragala Base Hospital, while the student involved in the attack has been arrested and placed in police custody.
