Three very rare fish known as snake fish were caught in the net of a fisherman in Mannar yesterday (07).
The Mannar Assistant Director of Fisheries states that these ten-foot-long fishes have been designated as an endangered species.
It is also reported that this species of fish is in great demand in countries like India, as it is used in Ayurvedic medicines for diseases related to bones.
However, the fisherman in Mannar has not been able to sell these three snake fish caught in the net, and others have taken the three fish.
