This nomination was discussed in the Legislative Assembly meeting held in the Parliament today, where the name of Mr. Deshbandu Tennakoon was adopted by majority vote.
It is reported that the three representatives of the ruling party representing the Legislative Assembly and two representatives of civil organizations have voted in favor of the name of Mr. Deshbandu Tennakone, while the opposition leader Mr. Sajith Premadasa and Mr. Kabir Hashim and one more representative of civil organizations have voted against the nomination.
